David Murphy was given a full time Academy place at Northants for 2007.
Having attended the academy for three years, I feel I can confidently say that it has improved my batting and my all-round game. The quality of the coaching is first-class and as all the coaches are former or current professionals it has allowed me to draw upon their vast experience to improve my game not only technically but mentally, also.
The high intensity training throughout most of the winter meant that I could analyse my batting technique in great detail and then correct it using many different drills.
Another major plus point of the CCM Academy is the quality of opposition that we play against in the summers. In playing against first-class counties' academies it allows us to pit ourselves against the best young cricketers around and also the occasional first team player!
Through the CCM Academy I have also had the chance to have trials with a couple of First Class teams including Middlesex and Northamptonshire, and gave me an opportunity to play 2nd Eleven cricket.
This season the CCMA has had its most successful year given that we have won 3 matches as well as coming mighty close to winning another 2, as players such as myself have realised that we have what it takes to perform against this high-quality opposition and our techniques and mental approaches have stood the test allowing us to perform to the best of our potential and a higher standard, a standard that we could not have achieved without the help of the CCM Academy.
In club games and games for the teams listed above I have scored over 1750 runs at an average of 54 this season.
